Module 3Lesson 3.2

Attention, trust and one step: the 3 parts of an influencer

Your buyer and the next step · Lesson 2 of 4

A man of about 50 in an armchair at night, scrolling videos on his phone with his thumb; the light of the screen on his face.

It is ten at night. You are in the armchair scrolling videos with your thumb. One makes you laugh. Another shows you a trick for the grill. You do not finish the next one.

Of all the ones you watched, only one made you type something: «where do I get this?». That video did the three things an influencer does.

The three parts

  • Attention: people see the video. Without it, nobody hears the message.
  • Trust: people believe the person speaking. Without it, they watch and do nothing.
  • One next step: the person speaking asks for one clear thing. Without it, people like the video and keep scrolling.

The three go together. If one is missing, the other two do very little.

Attention alone does not pay

A YouTube creator ran a test: he made an AI influencer and uploaded its videos to a new TikTok account for 7 days. By his own account, the account reached 348,000 followers, and the money he earned that week was «probably less than 5 cents».

He had plenty of attention. He was missing two parts: something to offer and a step to ask for.

There is another trap: attention from the wrong people. A video everyone likes can bring many people who will never buy what you sell. A topic made for your buyer brings fewer people, and more of the ones you need.

The goal: someone writes to you

This is how Eric puts it when he thinks about what he expects from an AI influencer:

«They're going to begin to talk to you. Give me more info. I need more info.»

Eric

To get there, each part comes from what you wrote in lesson 3.1:

  • attention comes from a topic your buyer cares about;
  • trust comes from someone who looks like them and says something useful;
  • the step is the action you ask for at the end, and you will see it in the next lesson.

That is why it pays to start with a few topics, all made for the same person: your buyer, with their problem and your offer in front of you.

How would you rather do it?

Nobody sees your answer: it is just for you.
